Modes

Key Mode
1 Hypercube (reference geometry)
2 Vortex-Only (full vortex content)
3 Timeslice (thin time slab + cone markers)

Rotation

Input Plane Effect
Q / A XW Rotate in the x-time plane
W / S YW Rotate in the y-time plane
E / D ZW Rotate in the z-time plane
R / F XY Rotate in the x-y plane
T / G XZ Rotate in the x-z plane
Y / H YZ Rotate in the y-z plane
Mouse drag XZ + YZ Free 3D rotation

All rotations are continuous: hold the key to rotate smoothly. The XW/YW/ZW planes are the interesting ones; they tilt the time axis into view. Watch the corner widget to keep track of where the axes go.

Navigation and slicing

Input Mode Effect
Arrow keys 2, 3 Move the selection centre through 4D space (screen-relative)
, / . 3 Step the time slice backward / forward
PageUp / PageDown 1, 2 Grow / shrink the focus radius
PageUp / PageDown 3 Widen / narrow the time slab
Scroll wheel all Zoom
Space all Reset view, centre, rotations, and slice

The selection centre is the point the camera focuses on: geometry fades out beyond the focus radius, and periodic wrapping is computed relative to it. Use the arrow keys to move through the lattice.

Orientation widget

The coloured cross in the top-right corner shows the current directions of the four axes, rotated in lockstep with the model: X red, Y green, Z blue, W white. The labels along the top edge match the axis colours.
